2020 Honda City production begins from Greater Noida plant

Honda Cars India has commenced the production of the eagerly awaited all-new Honda City in India. The fifth-generation City is being manufactured at Honda’s Greater Noida plant in Uttar Pradesh. The company’s plant had resumed manufacturing operations from mid-June following all government regulations and company’s safety protocols for COVID-19 prevention. The launch of the fifth-generation City is scheduled in July 2020. Commenting on the start of production, Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President & Director, Honda Cars India, said, “We are delighted to begin the Production of all-new fifth-generation Honda City which will be launched next month. The aspirational sedan comes with a rich legacy of over 22 years across four generations and has been synonymous with Honda brand in India. The excitement and anticipation around the 5th Generation City in the pre-launch phase has been extremely encouraging despite the currently prevailing market challenges. The all-new City is an engineering marvel on all aspects of design, technology and features and will strongly appeal to our modern age customers.”

The 2020 Honda City is expected to be the longest and widest sedan in its segment. The all-new sedan will be powered by newly introduced 1.5L i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine and refined 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine, both of which are BS6-compliant. The new City will also be India’s first connected car with Alexa remote capability and is equipped with the latest Honda Connect with Telematics Control Unit. The newly designed platform also has ASEAN N-CAP five star rating to its name. Furthermore, the new model also comes loaded with segment-first features like full LED headlamps, Z-shaped wrap-around LED Tail lamp, 7-inch HD full-colour TFT meter with G-meter, LaneWatch camera, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Agile Handling Assist (AHA) and much more.
