Hyundai Motor India Ltd launched the 2020 Verna – refreshing the brand’s mid-size sedan offering.  While the updated Verna largely retains the silhouette of the outgoing version, there are a host of styling tweaks that differentiate it from the latter and the revised equipment list makes it more appealing to a wider audience. The highlight of the new Verna is the addition of a 1.0-litre turbocharged GDi engine that’s mated to a seven-speed DCT gearbox

The mid-cycle update sees a larger grille on the front with new headlamps and a redesigned bumper. The tail-lamps are new too, along with the rear bumper and new-design alloy wheels. On the inside, you’d get faux wood treatment and updated upholstery – but overall the design remains identical to the outgoing version.

The second petrol powerplant is the 1.0-litre turbocharged GDi that puts out 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. This engine comes exclusively paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox as standard. The 1.5-litre diesel churns out 115hp and 250Nm of torque, and can be opted with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The updated equipment list includes a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen, Arkamys audio system, full-digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, tyre pressure monitoring system,  hands-free tailgate opening, paddle-shifters, wireless mobile phone charger and a sunroof. Hyundai is also hailing the updated Verna as India’s first fully connected sedan in its segment with Advanced Blue Link features.
