Triumph’s BS6-compliant Street Triple RS with a host of new updates has been launched in India at a price of Rs 11.13 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The British motorcycle manufacturer has made quite a few changes to the design, tech and powertrain. For starters, the 2020 Street Triple RS now comes with a BS6-compliant 765cc, in-line, three-cylinder motor which products 121bhp and 79Nm of torque. The six-speed gearbox has been carried over from the previous model but there’s a quickshifter now at hand to make the going a lot easier. Furthermore, the signature 765cc engine has been worked on by Triumph’s expert Moto2TM engine team. Triumph has also equipped the new Street Triple RS with a new silencer, which the company claims is freer flowing due to the twin catalyst system, reducing restriction and lowering emissions.

In terms of design, the 2020 Street Triple RS gets new LED headlights and DRLs. A lot of the bodywork like the side panels, seat cowl, belly pan, air intake and fly screen is new. Triumph has done a good job of making the newer version of the Street Triple RS more distinct than its outgoing model. Customers can choose from the Matt Jet Black with Aluminium Silver and Yellow decals or Silver Ice with Diablo Red and Aluminium Silver decals. Both paint scheme options include hand-painted Diablo Red wheel pinstripes and an Aluminium Silver rear sub-frame.

As far as tech goes, the new Street Triple RS gets an updated Bluetooth-enabled TFT screen with better graphics and GoPro controls. The TFT screen angle can even be adjusted to suit the rider’s height. There are five improved riding mode – Road, Rain, Sport, Track and Rider. These modes adjust throttle response, ABS and traction control settings, and can easily be selected whilst riding.

Speaking on the occasion, Shoeb Farooq, GM Triumph Motorcycles India said, “The Street Triple RS was a game-changing and category-defining motorcycle when it made its global debut back in 2007. In the journey of bettering itself, the Street Triple RS went through a host of technological advancements and the 2020 Street Triple RS reiterates Triumph’s commitment of bringing in class-leading technology, exemplary performance, specification, build-quality and design to deliver extraordinary machines. The 2020 Street Triple RS is equipped with a host of premium and the best-in-class components that make it the ultimate street motorcycle and a potent track weapon”.

He further added, “These are difficult and unprecedented times given the impact of the COVID19 pandemic and the top priority at this point is staying home, staying safe and practice social distancing. As the country prepares to open up in a phased manner, we believe the digital launch of the all-new Street Triple RS will bring in the much-required excitement into the market and among motorcyclists.”
