Jeep India has revamped the Compass for 2021. Prices for the Compass range between Rs 16.99 lakh to Rs 26.76 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) across its trim levels. Jeep has also announced a limited production 80th anniversary edition Compass which starts at Rs 22.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Pre-booking for the 2021 Compass has commenced on Jeep India’s website with deliveries expecting to start from the 2nd of February 2021.
The Compass is offered with the option of a petrol and diesel engine. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 160 bhp and 250Nm of torque and is available with two gearboxes, a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic both sending being front-wheel-drive. The 2-litre turbo-diesel churns out 170bhp and 350Nm of torque which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and is front wheel drive. Buyers can also opt for the 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which is only available with the diesel engine and has all-wheel-drive. The AWD drivetrain is sold across three trims – Limited (O), Model ‘S’ and the 80th Anniversary Edition.
New Model ‘S’ Trim
A new top-end trim level is now available in the 2021 Jeep Compass called the Model ‘S’. Customers who opt for this trim level will benefit from all body colour exterior plastic panels, a dark grey roof, all-black interior and a panoramic sunroof (available in the Limited (0) and 80th Anniversary Edition trim as well).
80th Anniversary Edition
The 80th Anniversary Edition is similar to the new top-end Model ‘S’ apart from a few changes such as a gloss black front grille, a black roof, black mirrors and a Jeep branded insignia on the exterior. Inside the Compass, the interior matches the ‘Model S’ trim apart from a Jeep 80th plaque which is on the front seats as well as on the front passenger instrument panel.
3 new colour options
The 2021 Jeep Compass introduces three new colour options which are Techno Metallic Green, Galaxy Blue and Bright White for buyers to opt from and adds to the current paint palette which consists of Brilliant Black, Minimal Grey, Magnesio Grey and Exotica Red.
Compared to its competitors like the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector, the Jeep Compass is the only mid-sized SUV to offer the option of an all-wheel-drive drivetrain which could attract buyers looking for a capable off-roader. The only other mid-sized SUV to offer all-wheel-drive is the Hyundai Tucson but that is considerably more expensive than the 2021 Jeep Compass.
