Morris Garage India has launched the ZS EV for 2021 and while the overall design of the vehicle remains the same as the outgoing generation, there are some changes made to the internals of the ZS EV. Prices for the ‘Excite’ variant is Rs 20.99 lakh which is Rs 10,000 more than the previous price of Rs 20.88 lakh, the prices for the ‘Exclusive’ variant is Rs 24.18 lakh which is Rs 60,000 more than the previous price Rs 23.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi respectively).
What is new?
The MG ZS EV is available with a new 44.5kWh (High-Tech) battery which produces 141bhp and has a claimed range of 419kms (ICAT certification testing conditions). MG has also increased the ground clearance of the ZS EV to 177mm which is 16mm more than the previous generation. There is also a new feature on the i-Smart EV 2.0 mobile app called the ‘Eco Tree Challenge’ which allows owners to keep a track of their CO2 savings. MG have also changed the tyre aspect ratio from a 215/50/ R17 tyre to a 215/55/ R17 tyre for the 2021 ZS EV.
What remains the same?
As mentioned before, no other distinctive changes are made on the 2021 MG ZS EV as compared to its current generation. Buyers are offered with plenty of features such as the panoramic sunroof, rain sensing wipers, 6-way power adjustable leather seats, a PM 2.5 air filter, heated/power adjusted ORVMs and the i-Smart EV 2.0 connected car tech which are only available in the top-spec ZS EV. But both variants of are provided with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in Android Auto + Apple CarPlay and also come with 6 airbags as standard.
To increase the sales numbers of the 2021 MG ZS EV will now be available across 31 cities in India which is 10 more than it is currently. The ZS EV has only one direct competitor which is the Hyundai Kona EV which offers a claimed range of 452kms which is 33kms more than the claimed range of the ZS EV.
