German luxury manufacturer Audi has started 2022 with a bang by reintroducing its much-awaited flagship SUV in India with the introductory price of Rs79.99lakhs (ex-Showroom) for the Premium Plus variant. In contrast, its top of line Technology variant cost around Rs.88.33 lakhs (ex-showroom).
EngineThe facelifted Audi Q7 now completely ditches out its diesel engine portfolio, and the focus has been completely shifted to EVs and petrol-driven cars, which aligns with the sustainability goals of the country as well as the company. 2022 Q7 is now locally assembled in India, powered with a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, churning out 335bhp of power and 500 Nm torque. The Mild Hybrid comprises a 48-volt electrical system that provides adequate power to the Belt Alternator Starter (BAS), which helps the engine automatically restart as per requirement. The car is proficient in clocking the top speed of 250km/hr and can do 0-100 in just 5.9 seconds. These figures are entirely commendable, considering the fact the Q7 is a heavy 7-seater SUV.
Exteriors and InteriorsThe 2022 Audi Q7 now gets a flat, wider looking single-frame grille with an octagonal outline and a new sill trim that enhances the stance. Moreover, it has a redesigned bumper at the front, including higher air inlets with a strong three-dimensional effect. Matrix LED headlamps with signature daytime running lights and LED tail lamps with dynamic turn indicators also allow clear visibility while driving. The car also features a vast panoramic sunroof, which enhances the vehicle’s overall experience. The car would be available in 5 different colour options – Carrara White, Mythos Black, Navarra Blue, Samurai Grey and Floret Silver.
On the inside, the car combines luxury with everyday practicality. The interior offers a driver-oriented wraparound cockpit design for easy ergonomics and intuitive hand movements. Audi Q7 gets the genuine cricket leather upholstery and comes with a 30 ambient lighting package, customizable with 30 colours for surface and contour lighting. The car comes with two interior colours options – Saiga Beige and Okapi Brown.
Features and SafetyThe Q7 is the flagship SUV from Audi, so expect it to come with all comfort features and safety standards. The car gets a B&O Premium 3D sound system which includes 19 speakers, a subwoofer, and a 16-channel amplifier with a total power output of 730 watts. The centre unit display gets a high-resolution 10.1″ unit. The car has power front seats with a driver-side memory function. The 2nd-row seats also comes with an adjustable fore & aft position. All the 7-seater comes with electrically foldable 3rd-row seats. A fresh cabin is always ensured with the combination of 4-Zone air conditioning with the Air Ionizer and Aromatization.
On the safety front, Q7 comes with 8-airbags and has got Park Assist function with 360° camera and Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist, which offers driver assistance and convenience. The Audi India will now get a Standard two-year warranty that can be extended up to 7 years and a five year Road Side Assistance (RSA) that can also be extended up to 10 years. The Q7 will go up against BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and the Volvo XC90.
