The Maserati Grecale, the Italian automaker’s new premium SUV, will premier globally on the 16th of November. This will be the second production SUV to bear the trident emblem, following the larger Levante that’s been on sale since 2016. Of course, we already knew that the new Maserati Grecale would premiere in November, but now we have a specific date. Approaching its launch date, we can expect to see more teasers over the coming weeks. Previously, camouflaged prototypes of this Italian SUV have been spotted on several occasions, and now it seems that the development period is reaching close to completion.
Maserati states that this new premium SUV will play a vital role for the brand and primarily focuses on its dynamic driving characterises. Therefore, it is safe to presume that the Grecale will share most of its components with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Further details of the engine and powertrain have not neem mentioned, but Maserati has mentioned that the SUV will be available in petrol, hybrid, and fully electric variants.
If you are wondering what Grecale means, the name originates from a Mediterranean wind. Oh, and this is not the first time Maserati has named their models after wind, as they have done it several times in the past with the Mistral, Ghibli, Bora, Merak, Khamsin, and Levante.
It is highly uncertain if Maserati will bring the Grecale to India but seeing how Porsche sells the Macan and Jaguar offer the F-Pace in India. However, Maserati stands a good chance of selling decent units of the Grecale to India as demand for premium SUVs in India is consistently high. At present, the portfolio offered by Maserati in India consists of the Levante, Quattroporte, Ghibli and the GranTurismo.
