Škoda India has begun producing the all-new mid-size sedan, the Octavia, at their production facility in Shendra, Aurangabad. The Octavia was Škoda’s first-ever offering when introduced in 2001 and is currently at its fourth generation change. The Octavia is due to launch later in this month which would be the second launch for Škoda after the Kushaq.
What is new?
In terms of how the car’s exterior looks, there are quite a few changes from the current generation Octavia to the next generation. In terms of styling, the Octavia takes quite a few cues from the Škoda Superb, such as the headlights that were split earlier are now one piece of LED headlights. On the rear to there are some minor tweaks to enhance the characteristics of the car further.
What is not known.
As of now, Škoda hasn’t confirmed the engine and drivetrain options that will be offered with the new Octavia. Still, we assume that it could come only with two petrol engine options, a 1.5-litre petrol engine (same as the Kushaq) or a 2.0-litre petrol engine. We can also assume that the Octavia will offer plenty of tech from the lowest trim levels, and the top-trim level could offer additional features such as a heads-up display, wireless charging, three-zone climate controls and plenty of driver assistance and driver aids.
