India is a land of intriguing contradictions and serves as a melting pot of history and culture. Whether it’s varying culture or just sheer geographical beauty, there is something for everyone. So, to celebrate this and explore just a small example of this, we took a small journey. For said excursion, we took the Tiguan Allspace and decided to find out how to explore a city from within the confines of VW’s flagship SUV. Hence, it was time to head to Rajasthan’s premiere city, all while in the lap of some serious power, luxury and comfort. In case you haven’t guessed yet, we’re talking about the glorious city of Jaipur.
The day began with a quick dash from the capital city – right off the bat, the Tiguan Allspace’s 2.0-litre TSI engine showed its versatility – switching between a calm highway cruiser and a precise handling German SUV. Furthermore, VW’s flagship SUV comes with the company’s 4MOTION four-wheel-drive system, ensuring the Tiguan Allspace feels sure-footed at all given times. Add to that the hill-hold and hill-descent functions and seven airbags, and the term ‘sure-footed’ takes on a whole new meaning. That gem of a motor, by the way, produces 190 PS of peak power and 320 Nm of torque. Furthermore, the navigation system and the huge panoramic sunroof worked in tandem, with one making sure of the route, while the other guaranteed a view like no other of the wonderful morning sky. Interestingly, the Allspace carries out its daily duties with a sense of solidity, which, logically speaking, makes it the safer choice. Needless to say, the Tiguan Allspace creates that sense of occasion, and was an absolute charmer throughout the trip.
Another brilliant addition to the Tiguan Allspace’s frankly extensive list of goodies is that sweet seven-speed DSG transmission. The gear changes felt easy as pie, whether you’re gunning for it or cruising along admiring the sites. As a result, the entry into the glorious ‘Pink City’ was a smooth one. It all started with Hawa Mahal – Another brilliant addition to the Tiguan Allspace’s frankly extensive list of goodies is that sweet seven-speed DSG transmission. The gear changes felt easy as pie, whether you’re gunning for it or cruising along admiring the sites. Which is exactly what we did, once we entered the glorious ‘Pink City’. It all started with Hawa Mahal, a structure constructed back in the 18th century. The ‘Palace of Winds’, as it is commonly known, was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799, as a way for ladies of the royal household to observe the crowded streets below or enjoy processions, a structure constructed back in the 18th century.
Similarly, Volkswagen’s SUV had its very own space, that too in abundance – the foldable third-row on the Tiguan Allspace made sure that there was space for all sorts of souvenirs, the likes of which are found at Johari Bazaar, and the world-famous Jantar Mantar. Quick fact – with the third row seat folded down, the boot space goes up from 230 litres to 700 litres! Amazingly, the second row seats can be further folded for even more space. In fact, so appetizing was the space on offer, it felt like the fight time for a short nap with the second and third row seats completely folded down. It was quickly apparent that booking a hotel room could have been avoided. Who knows? There might even be enough space to camp out in the Tiguan Allspace.
As the day was winding down and the city of Jaipur began to light up – it was time for some rest. Naturally, we put down the second and third row of seats completely, for a nice and relaxing nap, revelling in the bewitching beauty of the city which has stood the test of time, with panache. After the much-needed nap, we headed back to Le Meridien, where bookings had been made for a comfortable stay. But, with our batteries charged from the nap, we decided to head back to the capital city. Why? Well, why not? We had the Allspace’s top-notch Vienna leather seats, striking LED headlamps and cruise control with the option of a speed limiter at hand. It suffices to say that every drive with the Tiguan Allspace is a mighty special one, whether it’s long highways, short narrow lanes or just beautiful city roads.
What’s more, VW’s top-of-the-line SUV does it with grace and sophistication – something that deserves oodles of praise. If all you need is a seven-seat SUV that will cater to your every need, all while keeping your loved ones safe and performing when it matters most, the Tiguan Allspace has you covered. In fact, spending the day and living with Tiguan Allspace only strengthened our previous convictions of its capabilities as an all-rounder. To sum up, it has all the space, comfort, performance and luxury one will ever need – the name fits, doesn’t it?
