All the rumors and speculations about Skoda’s flagship SUV comes to an end as the brand finally launches its Kodiaq in the Indian market today. The premium 7-seater SUV is now Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit manufactured at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India’s manufacturing facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. One of the most significant updates on the new Kodiaq lies under its hood. It now gets a new 2.0 TSI engine producing 187bhp of power and 320Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG unit. The car is equipped with 4×4 capabilities and goes from 0-100 km/h in just 7.8 sec.
The Kodiaq comes with the three trims on offer – Style, Sportline and Laurin &Klement with segment-best active and passive safety features with 9 airbags as standard across all the variants. It now gets Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) which enables the choice of 6 driving modes, thus enhancing overall driving comfort according to the terrains on offer.
The KODIAQ features a new bonnet, the front and rear bumpers are now body-coloured, and the head and taillight clusters have new cosmetic and functional additions to them. You will notice Skoda’s Hexagonal grille with Crystalline LEDs with illuminated eyelashes on the front. On the back, we now get dynamic turn indicators with a new spoiler design optimizing large SUV’s aerodynamics.
On the inside, the SportLine variant has a more driver-oriented appeal, whereas The Style and Laurin & Klement variants focus on rear-seat luxury. The SportLine trim comes equipped with all-black suedia interiors, a 3-spoke flat-bottom sport steering wheel, more side bolstering, integrated headrests, and expanded shoulder support sport seats for enthusiastic cornering. The top of line L&K variant features beige leather perforated upholstery. It also gets 12-way adjustable electric seats with in-built cooling and heating function. The Style and L&K trim come equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting along with a state-of-the-art Canton 625 W 12-speaker audio system with a subwoofer.
With cars becoming an extension of our connected lives, the new SKODA KODIAQ is equipped with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen equipped with inbuilt navigation and full connectivity via the My SKODA CONNECT App. The Style variant comes with 4 analogue dials and digital readouts displaying essential information to the driver. The SportLine and L&K trims come with a fully programmable Virtual Cockpit with digital dials and a digital console that complements the 10.25-inch media interface with five themes to suit the driver’s needs.
