When the affordable performance motorcycle segment in India was in its nascent stage, our streets were ruled by the Honda CBR twins- the 250R and the 150R. The emergence of new players with modern tech attributed to the sad demise of the twins but guess what? It seems like our stars are finally aligning as the company has registered the design of the new CBR150R in India.

The new CBR 150R might be alien to us but it has been on sale in markets like Indonesia.

The new CBR 150R is a huge departure from the motorcycle that we used to get earlier, at least when it comes to aesthetics. The new iteration looks like a mini Fireblade with a razor-sharp fairing, muscular fuel tank and upswept tail section. In terms of features, it benefits from all-LED lighting and a reverse LCD instrument cluster.

This mini sportbike from Honda is powered by a 149.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 17.1hp and 14.4Nm. It will lock horns against the recently launched Yamaha R15 V4 which puts down  18.4hp and 14.2Nm from its 155cc, liquid-cooled engine. The CBR 150 R sits on a diamond frame with inverted telescopic front suspension and swingarm with monoshock at the rear.

If Honda indeed brings the CBR 150 R back to our shores, it is definitely going to send sparks of worry in Yamaha’s camp.
