The festive season is just off the corner and Audi has announced a new model, the Audi Q8 Celebration Edition. Priced at Rs 98.98 lakh (Ex-Showroom), the Audi Q8 Celebration Edition is quite affordable when we compare it with the standard Audi Q8. Now you might assume that the Celebration Edition is just a few thousand rupees cheaper than the standard version. But surprisingly, the difference is a whooping Rs 34 lakh.
Yes you read that correct. And don’t let this massive difference deceive you that the Celebration Edition is a less powerful car. It is equipped with a same, powerful yet efficient 3.0-litre TFSI engine that generates 250kW or 340bhp of power and 500Nm of torque. With this heart, the car can propel from 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, “Traditionally, the festive season has been a strong sales period for the auto industry and we are extremely happy to introduce an addition to the Q-family – the Audi Q8 Celebration. Since its very successful launch in January earlier this year, the Audi Q8 has received an overwhelming response and we are confident that with the Audi Q8 Celebration we will now be able to widen the appeal of this irresistible Q model.”
Mr. Dhillon further added, “The Audi Q8 is an SUV that showcases Audi’s powerful design, cutting-edge technology and depth of engineering. It’s an SUV that’s as pleasurable to sit in as it is to drive and also packs in the versatility of an Audi Q-model. As a brand we are focused on exceeding customer expectations and the Audi Q8 Celebration model is another step in that journey.”
The Good And Bad:
Let’s start with the good side first, the Audi Q8 Celebration Edition is equipped with a host of features like the- HD Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic lighting, Button-less MMI Navigation system with Touch Response, Audi Virtual Cockpit, Audi Smartphone Interface, Audi Phone Box light with wireless charging, Audi music interface, a Panoramic Sunroof, Audi Pre-Sense, 8 Airbags, Contour Ambient lighting and Audi Park Assist among other equipment. All these features will definitely help you celebrate every ride.
Speaking about the bad side, every reduction in price results in a reduction of features. The bigger the reduction, the more features are thrown off the car. Well the Audi Q8 Celebration Edition does not lacks anything much, but it does swap out some features over the standard version. These include- the adaptive suspension being swapped with the standard suspension with damper control, replacing the Band & Olufsen audio system with the standard Audi sound system, matter black buttons on the steering of the Q8 Celebration instead of the aluminium ones in the standard Q8, 19-inch wheels instead of the 20-inch wheels and also, replacing the Audi Phone Box with the Audi Phone Box Light wireless charging system.
However, if you are ready to swap these features, you can save Rs 34 lakh with the Celebration Edition. But a question ponders my mind, will you spend Rs 98.98 lakh and still compromise instead of getting the best? Well maybe, after all this package seems to be more of a value for money luxury solution, and it is also a sweet festive gift from Audi. And gifts are not meant to be rejected.
