BMW has launched its latest offering the 3 Series Gran Limousine. The replacement for the 3GT is offered in three variants with a diesel and petrol engine. Prices start at 51.50 lakh for the 330Li Luxury Line variant, Rs 52.50 lakh for the 320Ld Luxury Line variant and the 330Li M Sport ‘First Edition’ is priced at 53.90 lakh (ex-shorwoom, India) . Prices mentioned above are introductory and are available for a limited time only. Bookings had already begun on the 11th of January at BMW dealerships with a booking amount of Rs 50,000.
The standard 3 Series has a wheelbase of 2851 mm while the 3 Series Gran Limousine has a wheelbase of 2961 mm which is 110 mm longer than the standard car translating to better leg room for the rear passengers. On the outside, the only way of telling apart both variants of the 3 Series is the longer rear door and the ‘Ld/Li’ badging on the rear of the car.
BMW will offer the 330Li M Sport ‘First Edition’ during the launch period only and customers who opt for this variant will get a bunch of additional features such as a 360 degree surround camera, a heads-up display, the BMW gesture control and comfort access.
Both models of the 3 Series will share the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 255bhp and 400Nm of torque while the 2-litre turbo-diesel engine manages to produce 188bhp and 400Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox which sends power to the rear wheels.
With the launch of the 3 Series Gran Limousine, BMW has created a niche. Rivals like the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class or the Jaguar XE are nowhere close when it comes to back seat space and the sheer amount of legroom on offer.
