BMW Motorrad India has launched the new BMW R nineT and BMW R nineT Scrambler in India. The R nine T Scrambler is priced at Rs 16.75 lakh while the R nineT is priced at Rs 18.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India respectively). They will be available as completely built-up units (CBU) and the motorcycles can be booked at all BMW Motorrad India dealerships from today onwards.
The overall design of both motorcycles takes inspiration from BMW’s motorsport heritage, The classic appearance is complemented by the newly designed circular instrument with analogue speedometer display and integrated indicator lights, housed in a high-quality metal casing and bearing the BMW logo. The models now have state-of-the-art LED headlamp including daytime running light.
The motorcycles are powered by a 1,170 cc air/oil-cooled 2-cylinder four-stroke engine which produces 109bhp with 116Nm mated to a Single dry plate clutch, hydraulically operated 6-speed gearbox. BMW Motorrad claims a 0 to100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 200 km/hr. In terms of safety, both motorcycles boast of multiple safety tech such as Automatic Stability Control, floating ABS Pro including Dynamic Brake Control and fully adjustable upside down front fork. Two riding modes are also on offer – Rain and Road.

Both the motorcycles from BMW don’t face much competition apart from the Ducati Scambler 1100 Pro and Scrambler 1100 Street Pro which is priced significantly lower than the BMW. The Scrambler 1100 Pro is priced at Rs 11.95 lakh which is Rs 4.8 lakhs cheaper than the R nineT and the Scrambler 1100 Sport Pro is priced at Rs 13.74 lakh which is 4.76 lakh cheaper than the R nineT Scrambler.
