Enthusiasts rejoice! BMW India has reopened the booking for the M340i XDrive in India. Back by popular demand, the M340i XDrive boasts of being the first high-performance BMW with an M engine that is locally produced at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai. Even the price tag of Rs 62.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India) remains unchanged.
If you are unaware of the engine the M340i packs, let me give you a recap. Under the hood is a 3.0-litre straight six-cylinder petrol engine producing 387bhp and 500Nm of torque which is mated to an eight-speed steptronic sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters. BMW also claims to do the 0 to 100km/h stint in just 4.4 seconds, making it the quickest car to be produced in India.
Furthermore, BMW India includes Rs 2 lakh worth of additional kit such as the M-performance chassis, M sport suspension, M sport rear differential, sports exhaust, and more as standard with the M340i. Apart from the additional kit, the M340i differentiates itself from a humdrum 3 Series with a body-coloured M rear spoiler, exterior mirror caps finished in cerium grey metallic, blue brake callipers with the M logo and 18-inch M light-alloy wheels. Buyers can also opt for 19-inch M light-alloy wheels as an optional extra.
If you want to get your hands on the BMW M340i XDrive, I would recommend that you head to your nearest dealership immediately because the previous lot of the cars were sold out as soon as it was launched. The BMW M340i is the only car with the price tag it carries to cater to enthusiasts’ requirements. The Audi S5 and the Mercedes-AMG A35 are the other alternatives but do not directly compete with the M340i XDrive.
