Amidst all the glamour behind the launch of the GLC 43 AMG being locally assembled, BMW has decided to launch the all-new X3 M. Unlike the former car, this one will arrive via the CBU route and therefore cost 99.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
The X3 M is set to launch with the all-new straight-six engine from the Bavarian company. This motor produces 480 bhp and 600 Nm of torque which also makes it the most powerful six-cylinder M car to be made by the BMW. As a result, 0-100 is dealt with in only 4.2 seconds. The car also features a lowered suspension along with a capable chassis to help it stay flat in corners.
Compensating the heavy price tag, are plenty of features such as electrically adjustable sports seats with memory, Vernasca leather upholstery, ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch Multifunction Display touchscreen, iDrive Touch Controller, BMW Gesture Control. It also gets BMW Virtual Assistant, telephony with wireless charging, & hi-fi speaker system. In addition, the options list for the X3 M includes 21-inch light alloy wheels, BMW Display Key, M Sport exhaust, M Driver’s package & Harman Kardon Surround Sound System.
Being an “M” car you get certain features to remind you that this is no ordinary vehicle such as an M-specific instrument cluster, a restyled M selector lever, signature M gills. The exterior mirrors’ feature a special M design to reduce aerodynamic drag. It also gets special 20-inch M light-alloy wheels. The X3 M uses an all-wheel drive system that has a rear-wheel bias. This system calculates which tyre needs more power and delivers it accordingly. It also has an advanced eight-speed gearbox optimised to deliver the best performance.
On the safety front, the X3 M features front, side & head airbags, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including M Dynamic Mode, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control, Dry Braking function, Cruise Control with braking function along with Collision & Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function. You also get Adaptive LEDs and a Heads-Up display that projects all the necessary driving information on the windscreen and in the driver’s field of vision.
The car is available in Donington Grey, Toronto Red, Phytonic Blue, Sophisto Grey, Black Sapphire & Alpine White. The upholstery is available in Leather ‘Vernasca’ Design in Black & Oyster. Rivalling the X3 M will be the Porsche Macan S and the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe.
