BMW X5 M Competition launched in India

BMW X5 M Competition

BMW seems to be taking the forefront when it comes to performance cars by launching two “M” cars in the span of one month with the X5 M Competition being launched today at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom, India). BMW is known to produce driver-oriented cars, and by launching more of these ‘M’ models it is trying to cement its position in this segment. If you thought that the 473 bhp X3 M was enough performance, the X5 M enhances these figures to a new level.

The X5 M Competition gets the 4.4 litre V8 which is the signature dish for all ‘M’ cars. Further, it comes with the same 625 bhp tune as seen on the M8 competition as well. This makes it one of the fastest SUVs to be sold in our market. This engine allows the SUV to have a 0-100 time of 3.8 seconds which is comparable to many supercars as well. It can do all of this whilst also seating five in luxury and tackling some off-road terrain.

Although M cars are known to be very subtle in their design, a keen eye can spot a number of changes on the X5. These range from the ‘M’ badging around the car, and the wheels having a different design which are now 21 inches at the front and 22 at the rear. The car itself sits lower to the ground for greater handling in corners. You can also notice the larger air intakes around the car that are finished in gloss black.

On the inside, the seats get different stitching along with the M badging. The steering wheel is grippier and the gear lever also gets the ‘M’ treatment. There is a good dash of red around the dashboard and the fully digital instrument cluster adds to the sportiness as well. You also get luxury features such as a Bowers and Wilkins speaker system and a 12.3-inch touchscreen along with rear screens. It also gets adaptive cruise control, adaptive LED laser lights and a host of safety features such as the Heads up display carried over from the X5. The X5 M Competition also gets an additional Track mode on offer apart from the usual modes along with the adaptive suspension.

Competing with the X5 M would be the capable and suave Audi RSQ8 and the stylish and exclusive Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
