Honda Cars India has launched the BS6-compliant diesel variants of the 10th-generation Honda Civic. The petrol-powered variants of the Honda Civic are already BS6-compliant since its launch in March 2019. Furthermore, the diesel engine is available two variants – VX and ZX, priced at Rs 20.75 lakh (ex-showroom) and 22.35 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. Fun fact – the Civic is Honda’s longest-running automotive nameplate and its largest-selling model globally.
Commenting on the launch, Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President and Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “Honda is committed to bring its latest and advanced environment-friendly technologies to the Indian market. With the introduction of BS6 diesel version of our iconic sedan Honda Civic, our entire sedan line-up will offer the choice of both petrol and diesel to cater to our esteemed customers. The diesel Civic is available in manual transmission and will appeal to customers looking for sheer driving pleasure.”
Under the hood of the BS6 Civic diesel sits a 1.6-litre i-DTEC motor from the ‘Earth Dream Technology’ series. This engine comes paired to a six-speed manual transmission. It produces 118.3bhp@4000rpm and 300Nm of torque at 2000rpm. Claimed fuel economy stands at 23.9 km/l.
