Maruti Suzuki India has rolled out a BS6-compliant S-CNG variant of the Celerio. It comes in the VXI and VXI (O) guise for private buyers, while fleet owners can choose the ‘Tour H2’ version. Maruti Suzuki has priced the Celerio BS6 VXI CNG at Rs 5.61 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Celerio BS6 VXI (O) CNG at Rs 5.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Tour H2 BS6 CNG has priced 5.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Furthermore, it has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 30.47 km/kg. This is the company’s seventh BS6-compliant S-CNG offering in India.
Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, “Celerio has always struck a chord with our customers for being a perfect car for city driving. The “Easy to Drive, Easy to Love” Celerio became increasingly popular amongst young urban couples, appreciated for its comfortable ride, easy manoeuvrability and excellent fuel efficiency. Celerio was also the first car to introduce Auto Gear Shift technology in India, pioneering the two-pedal technology. With over five lakh customers choosing Celerio, we hope to extend its popularity with the BS6 S-CNG variant.”
Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki’s S-CNG vehicle range is aligned to and complements the Government of India’s vision of reducing oil import and enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country. Also, this aligns with Maruti Suzuki’s vision of Mission Green Million, originally announced at the Auto Expo 2020. Under its ‘Mission Green Million’, aims to sell the next 1 million green vehicles in the next couple of years.
