The Renault Duster has always been known for its rugged SUV looks and its practical 4WD powertrain which was recently dropped by Renault from the SUV’s lineup in India, this lead the car to succumb in this highly competitive compact SUV segment. Although the car has already been refreshed and released with new looks in the international markets, in India the company has made a new attempt to revive the dominant presence back in the Indian market, Renault has launched its new BS6 compliant powerful turbo petrol variant.
The new Duster is supposed to ace a BS6 compliant 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine churning 156bhp of power and 250Nm of torque, the car will be offered with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic. With this heart the Duster is claimed to be the most powerful SUV in the segment, ready to compete with other rivals once launched. In terms of prices, the current top-spec Duster is set at INR 9.9 lakh ex-showroom. With the introduction of the turbo petrol engine, we expect a hike in price of anywhere between INR 1.5 – 2 lakh, depending on the transmission.
At the Auto Expo 2020, the Renault Duster failed to attract much of attention, to highlight some of its features, the Duster Turbo Petrol shall be launched with some red elements on front grill to make it look sporty, chrome finishing on the exhausts contrasting with black roof rails to make it look attractive. At the interiors we would find the cabin in a dual-tone finish, draped in midnight black and stone grey, while the fabric seat upholstery will feature blue stitching. The equipment list will be added with features such as a start/stop feature for the engine, remote cabin pre-cooling, automatic climate control, cruise control with speed limiter, dual airbags with ABS, ESP and Hill Start Assist, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen.17-inch alloy wheels and a projector headlamp setup with LED which were much awaited, could also be seen in the Duster.
