During the fifth episode of their World Premiere 2022, Ducati has revealed the Panigale V4 2022 and taken all its fans by storm. For starters, Ducati has updated the aerodynamics of the Panigale with the integration of a set of more compact and thinner double-profile wings which promise a vertical load of up to 37 kgs at 300 km/h. Additionally, the lower part of the fairing features a redesigned extraction socket that improves the engine’s cooling system and overall performance. Ergonomically, the new Panigale V4 features a flatter shaped seat that’s layered with a different coating to enhance support during braking and allow more effortless movement. Ducati has also reshaped the tank with a bigger knee recess for the rider to anchor themselves during braking.
The performance of the V4 engine has seen improvement, too, with the integration of a new oil pump that reduces power absorption, increased diameter of the silencer to reduce backpressure and some new dedicated mapping. The engine now produces 2.5 bhp more at 14,500 rpm at a total of 215.5 bhp and delivers 123.6 Nm of torque. The 2022 Panigale also gets a new gearbox that lengthens the ratio for the first, second and sixth gears, allowing smoother power delivery through corners and an increased top speed by 5 km/hr. To control all the power, Ducati has included new power modes that provide 4 engine configurations: Full, High, Medium and Low, which can limit the overall output just to 150 bhp, thereby offering better control and more manageable throttle response. Buyers can now also opt for a new titanium racing exhaust system developed in collaboration with Akrapovic, which promises an increase of 12.5 bhp and a decrease of 5 kgs in weight.
The new Panigale V4 S comes equipped with new Ohlins NPX 25/30 electronically controlled pressurised forks that minimise the risk of oil cavitation compared to a conventional model, thereby improving overall braking and better absorption. The forks have a travel of 125 mm, which is 5 mm more than the outgoing model, improving overall gip, especially in critical conditions. The Panigale V4 S is equipped with 3-spoke forged aluminium-alloy wheels and fitted with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres (120/70 ZR17 front and 200/60 ZR 17 rear). The braking system is equipped with Brembo Stylema monobloc callipers at the front with four 30 mm diameter pistons, each working on 330 mm diameter discs. At the rear, a single 245 mm disc with a 2-piston calliper.
The standard Panigale V4 2022 gets a 43 mm fully-adjustable Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF), Sachs steering damper, Sachs mono-shock also fully adjustable and cast aluminium rims with a 5-spoke design. Ducati claims the new Panigale V4 is an even faster bike on the racetrack and more intuitive for a wide range of riders. The new Panigale V4 and Panigale V4 S will be available starting in December 2021 in the classic “Ducati Red” colour.
