The electric vehicle revolution is accelerating. Many car manufacturers all over the world have started manufacturing EVs. Volvo recently announced the pricing of its all-new XC40 Recharge at Rs. 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom),making it the most affordable EV in the luxury segment. Similarly, Kia launched its latest iteration of the electric vehicle, the Kia EV6, a few months ago, with a starting price of Rs. 59.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Here is a comparison between the Volvo XC40 and the KIA EV6.


Even though both the cars have an almost similar dimensions, the KIA EV6 is slightly longer in length,whereas the Volvo XC40 Recharge is taller in height. Both the electric cars feature different body design languages, as the Volvo XC40 Recharge is an SUV and the KIA EV6 is a hatchback.

Battery and Range

The XC40 is available only in the AWD drivetrain and powers its motor with a 78-kWh battery and the company claims that it provides a range up to 418km on a full charge. On the other hand, the Kia EV6 is available with both RWD and AWD variants and is powered by a similar 77.4 kWh battery but the company claims that it provides a range of 528km on a full charge.

Volvo claims that a 150-kW fast charger charges the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes in the XC40 Recharge, while Kia claims that a 350kW DC fast charger charges the battery of EV6 from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

When it comes to performance, the Volvo XC40 Recharge beats the KIA EV6 in numbers. Putting out a power output of 408 hp and 660 Nm of torque, the XC40 Recharge can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds (company claimed), whereas the KIA EV6 puts out a maximum output of 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque for the RWD variant and 320 hp and 605 Nm for the AWD variant. The EV6 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds (company claimed).

The Volvo XC40 Recharge is equipped with features like a 12.3-inch driver’s fully digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system, which is integrated with Google. It also offers features like a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera view, climate control, wireless charging, and more.

The KIA EV6, on the other hand, is loaded with features. It offers a curved display screen for both the driver instrument cluster and the main infotainment system. The front seats in the KIA EV6 are equipped with a zero-gravity recline function. Apart from this, it also features a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and wireless charging.
