Waking us out of complacency. Covid’s second wave came barging in, galloping
like hooded marauders. This time it’s more lethal, but we are armed with vaccines and many unanswered questions. How long before we hit the roof? How long before we can drive in an open convertible without masks freely on any roads, in a world that is? All drivers are on hold and roads are sealed. Sentiments are low, and uncertainty has hit with 9000 RPM in the needle. But there is always hope. Even after the third wave of Spanish flu in 1918, which wiped out a colossal 50 million folks from the planet, there was more hope than there is now.

It’s very exciting. Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Maruti XL6, and now with the entry of Hyundai Alcazar this segment is destined to rake in some good numbers. It’s the same as buying a 4×4 SUV for a city road. Though you will seldom use it, it’s good to know that you have the option. Similarly, we should consider a 6 to 7 seater option for that occasional group drive. I was recently road tripping in Kerala in the all-new Jeep Compass, missed that extra seat, and took one more car trailing us.

updated 6 GT. Talk about cut-throat competition! We got them together to see how much of
a difference there is and what they bring to the table. Then, we had some fun on two wheels, thanks to the updated Yamaha FZ-S and the Suzuki Gixxer 250. As we found out pretty soon, these quarter-liter motorcycles are a lot more than your average commuter.
