BMW Motors India is delighted to announce that they have sold the first batch of their all-new fully-electric SUV, the BMW iX, in India. The iX was launched by BMW yesterday and carried was priced at Rs 1.15 crore (ex-showroom, India). Potential customers were able to book the electric SUV via BMW India dealerships or using BMW’s online portal. The German manufacturer will begin deliveries starting in April of next year.
Two models of the BMW iX was launched in India, the xDrive 40 and xDrive 50. In the xDrive 40 guise, the iX produces 325bhp and 630Nm and offers a claimed range of 414 kilometres. On the other hand, the ix xDrive 50 makes 513bhp and 765Nm of torque. BMW claims that the xDrive 50 offers a range of 611 kilometres on a single charge.

Born electric, our new technology flagship stands for a new way of life defined by mobility that is luxurious and responsible at the same time. We were confident that the first-ever BMW iX will be a sought-after product, but it has truly surpassed all expectations. With all units sold on the first day, we are now preparing to fulfil the demands of other customers who are waiting to own this exclusive electric BMW SAV.”
In terms of the BMW iX’s competition, its only rivals are the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi e-tron and the Jaguar I-Pace. At present, these are the only electric SUVs on offer in the luxury SUV segment.
