Ford has unveiled the all-new beast F150 Raptor R, featuring a new 5.2-L supercharged V8 engine putting out 700hp and 867 Nm of torque. Starting at $109,145, it’s the most expensive and powerful pick-up truck ever made by Ford!
Apart from the engine, it gets a stronger front axle to cope with harder bumps, an aluminium drive shaft, and a five-link rear suspension to improve axle position on rough terrain. There is a 5% increase in the front spring rate, which helps the truck to clear obstacles with 13.1-inches of ground clearance and standard 37-inch tires. According to Ford, the Raptor R has an advanced, long-travel suspension design that detects the terrain hundreds of times per second and adjusts the suspension appropriately.
The exhaust manifolds have been upgraded to a cast stainless steel design, and a unique oil cooler and filter, as well as a deeper oil pan, have been included for better oil cooling. The air intake capacity has been increased by 66% thanks to a bigger air intake inlet and a higher-flow, higher-efficiency conical air filter.
The Raptor’s V8 engine is linked with a 10-speed automatic transmission that provides power to all four wheels and is integrated with four driving modes (Normal, Sports, Quiet, and Baja) that can be set with a push of a button.
Some distinguishing features that set the new Raptor R apart from the standard V6 Raptor include a more aggressive dome on the bonnet, Ford’s code orange coloured graphics, and ‘R’ badges on the grille, power dome, and tailgate.
Inside, the Raptor R comes standard with Recaro sport seats with real carbon fibre trim, and a 12-inch touch screen with Ford SYNC 4 technology, as well as standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Booking for the Ford F-150 Raptor R is officially open, and the production of vehicles will start in late 2022 at Ford’s Michigan plant.
