The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT has finally arrived. Although, its scheduled for the global launch by the end of 2021, the specs and details of this SUV show its sheer power and are enough to get us excited. Ford even claims it to be the fastest SUV in the world, with a impressive leap from standstill to 100 kmph in just 3.7 seconds. This high speed and the very presence of letter “E” in the name, suggests that this beast is powered by a 88 kWh battery.
Well, we said beast because the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT produces 465bhp of power and 830Nm of peak torque. Now you might be thinking, how can everything be so amazing, like a dream. Well, before the critics speak about the range and smash your dreams, its better you know that the Mustang Mach-E GT gets enough juice to help it race around for 499 km. However, the only flaw we could spot until now is, the inability of Ford to showoff the figure 500 km as the range. If you are okay with this, kudos, you can continue dreaming about this Mustang.
While the enthusiasts might not be as happy about the GT version, as they were with the Mustang Mach-E 1400. Which churns out 1418bhp of power, to showoff Ford’s ability in terms of performance. However, the Mustang Mach-E 1400 was just a prototype, and might become a reality soon. But the real global market version, which will be available for these unsatisfied enthusiasts is the Mustang Mach-E GT. This hot-hatch comes with some sporty 20-inch alloy wheels with red brake callipers. To make it more interesting, Ford will launch it in two color schemes– Cyber Orange and Grabber Blue, and I must accept, Americans are expert in generating catchy names. To make your ride even more interesting, Ford will also offer the Magne-Ride adaptive suspension on the Mustang Mach-E GT as standard across both color options.
The Mustang Mach-E GT will be supported by an industry-leading ecosystem of charging across Europe. Ford has also announced that the Mustang Mach-E customers can place an order this year and this will allow them to have five years of free access to the Ford-Pass Charging Network, which includes more than 155,000 charge stations across Europe. The Mach-E customers will also receive one year of free access to the IONITY fast-charging network that has now established more than 270 charging stations en route to a targeted 400 by the end of this year.
“The new Mustang Mach-E GT shows what all-electric performance really looks like, but performance counts for nothing without the confidence to use it. Our charging initiatives mean Mustang Mach-E customers can enjoy the electrified Mustang driving experience with the knowledge that they can recharge quickly and easily across Europe,” said Stuart Rowley, president, Ford of Europe.
The Mustang Mach-E GT is expected to arrive with a 15.5-inch full HD touch display, that supports a next generation SYNC communication and entertainment system that actually learns from driver’s behaviour to make smart suggestions. The enhanced interior also features Ford Performance seats and a unique steering wheel with suede inserts.
Will this beast arrive in India? well that’s where I commit the sin of shattering your almost perfect dream. Ford has not mentioned anything about the India launch of the Mustang Mach-E GT. While the carmaker is unlikely to launch the GT variant, it has confirmed regarding the launch of standard variant of the Mustang Mach-E in India, by 2021.
