Despite several electric 2-wheeler new-age startups registered in India, only a handful of Indian startups have seriously paved the growth for the electric revolution. One such startup that is highly regarded in the electric-vehicle domain is Ather Energy. The startup led by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain has developed the scooter all in-house and has significantly achieved results like a 100-year-old OEM. Now, they have launched the Gen-3 450X and 450 Plus electric scooters at Rs 1.39 lakh and Rs 1.17 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi).

2022 Ather 450X: What’s new? What’s updated?

One of the significant updates is the battery pack. The 450X now gets a 3.7kWh battery pack that claims a 146km (IDC) range. However, the real-world range may differ according to riding conditions and environment. With an updated battery pack, kerb weight is now around 112kg. There is also an introduction of a ‘Warp’ mode (Ather’s high-performance mode), which enhances the peak output to 6.2kW.

Ather has also upgraded the rear tires with a wider cross-section, enabling a better grip and braking performance on the road. Ather claims wider rear tyres provide 22% better grip in all weather conditions. Moreover, Ather has also added TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) to keep safety in check. The mirrors have also been re-designed with single-cast aluminium.

The RAM has also been upgraded to 2GB from 1GB. The inclusion of 2GB RAM will enhance the performance of memory-intensive applications. Ather is also confident of achieving better performance in higher temperatures with this update.

Well, the Ather 450X still remains the formidable choice for all enthusiasts, and now it has even got more practical with a bigger battery capacity. Please click here to watch our first-ride video to know more.
