Following its virtual launch in 2020, Lamborghini revealed the Essenza SCV12 to the public for the first time at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. This track-only hypercar was showcased in the exclusive Verde Selvans, Grigio Linx, Nero Aldebaran Gloss and Arancio California launch livery.

The limited-edition Essenza SCV12 of 40 units is inspired by the Squadra Corse’s years of experience in motorsport races. The large rear wing, side fins and front splitter are elements inspired by the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO and GT3 EVO, promising greater efficiency and generating higher downforce levels than a GT3 car, with a value of 1,200 kg at 250 km/h. Fitted to this race car is Lamborghini’s most powerful naturally aspirated V12 engine, which delivers over 830hp, and receives a significant power boost from the RAM effect at high speeds. Power is sent to the rear wheels by a new X-trac sequential six-speed gearbox designed as a structural element mounted within the race car’s chassis.

The Essenza SCV12 also boasts of being the first GT car developed to respect FIA prototype safety standards; it features an exceptional power-to-weight ratio of 1.66 hp/kg, which is made possible by its new-generation carbon fibre monocoque chassis without the need of an internal rollcage.

Stefano Domenicali, CEO and Chairman of Automobili Lamborghini, commented: “Essenza SCV12 represents the purest track driving experience that our brand can offer, an engineering feat that highlights the inextricable link between our cars and the asphalt of the track. Lamborghini is a brand constantly looking to the future and searching for new challenges, but we never forget our roots and who we are: Essenza SCV12 is the perfect combination of our unconventional spirit as a super sports car manufacturer and our true passion for motorsport.”

Lamborghini has also mentioned that the 40 lucky customers of the Essenza SCV12 also become a member of an exclusive Lamborghini club which grants them access to unique tailor-made programs to drive their hypercar on various circuits around the world. In addition to premium track facilities, the program also gives customers access to exclusive training programmes similar to those followed by the official Lamborghini racers.
