Touring on two wheels is an ever-growing market in India. Just look at the choices we have – ADVs, cruisers, sports tourers and of course out-and-out tourers. They come in all shapes and sizes, and Honda’s just added their ultimate touring machine to the mix. We’re talking about the Gold Wing, of course. It’s back in India, for a starting price of Rs 37.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Haryana). The top-of-the-line Gold Wing Tour costs 39.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Haryana). What’s the difference? Well, the more expensive variant comes with a Dual Clutch Transmission (seven-speed) and an airbag. The standard variant comes with a six-speed manual transmission.

Both versions, however, are still powered by the 1,833cc liquid-cooled, flat-six engine capable of putting out 125 bhp @5500rpm and 170 Nm @4500rpm. That’s just the start of it, though. The Gold Wing Tour comes with a whole list of premium features like a seven-inch TFT display, LED lighting all-around, extended electric screen, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility, two USB Type-C ports and then some. What else do you expect from the king of the hill from Honda’s touring catalogue? It’s even got a ‘walking mode’ that allows users to reverse or move this big hulking beast at a slower pace. That’s a pretty useful feature to have since the Gold Wing weighs around 380 kilograms (wet).

Honda hasn’t changed much on the BS6-compliant Gold Wing. In fact, this time around it gets a new set of 55-watt speakers and tweaked ergonomics for the pillion seat. But, as some of you may have noticed, the increase in price from the BS4 version is over Rs 10 lakh, which is no small amount. Moreover, it still gets the double-wishbone front suspension and sits in an aluminium twin-beam frame. It’s also comes packed with other goodies like 121 litres of storage space, a Dual Combined Brake System, four riding modes and a 21.1-litre fuel tank. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has opened up bookings for the Gold Wing Tour across six BigWing Topline dealerships in India. Last but least, it comes in two colours – Pearl Glare White (manual), Gunmetal Black Metallic × Mat Morion Black (DCT).
