The BMW 3 Series M340i xDrive variant has gathered a large fan following in such a short time, and that is within reason. With a 0 to 100km/h time of just 4.4 seconds, the M340i grabs the ultimate bragging rights of being the fastest accelerating vehicle that is made in India. But apart from the engine, the M340i also differs from the regular 3 Series with some exclusive bits and pieces mentioned below.

The design elements between the M340i and the 3 Series are extremely subtle.

Exterior Styling

Unlike the BMW M3 Sedan, the M340i xDrive has some very subtle design upgrades from the regular 3 Series, such as a sleeker front bumper, rear bumper, and side skirts with a rear diffuser finished in black. Also unique to the M340i are black trim pieces across the B-pillars, windows, and exterior side mirrors, all finished in black instead of chrome or body colour.

Optimized driving dynamics

On the M340i xDrive, an M Sport differential optimizes the four-wheel-drive system by controlling the power split between the front and the back. It also helps stabilize the sedan while aggressively cornering or having to make sudden lane changes. Along with the sports differential, the suspension offered is also tweaked to provide a better driving experience.

Different Exhaust tips

A decent exhaust is a must for any performance sedan, and the M340i xDrive does not skim out. The quad tailpipes are finished in the shade BMW calls ‘Cerium Grey’ instead of the chrome tips that you are offered in the other variants of the 3 Series.

Sports seats

Instead of the standard seats offered on the 3 Series, the M340i xDrive has a bulkier seat that provides additional support for the front passengers in terms of backrest width adjustment and other forms of adjustability. Also exclusive to the M340i are the seat belts that adorn the classic M colors: White Black and Red.

‘M’ branded alloys with brakes

A set of 18-inch alloys double-spoke style M light alloys wheels are offered with the M340i, which are shared with the 330i M Sport variant on the 3 Series. As standard, the 3 Series is offered with 17-inch V-spoke style alloy wheels. Stopping the M340i are four-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating callipers which are painted in blue with the M designation.
