Jaguar brings the updated F-Type to India, now comes a 2.0-litre engine option

Jaguar F-Type
The F-Type receives its biggest update yet

The new Jaguar F-Type was unveiled towards the end of 2019, showcasing what’s being called the biggest update to be received by the Porsche 911-rivaling sportscar. While the COVID-19 crisis might have delayed its entry into the Indian market, the F-Type finally comes to us in its newest avatar.

Immediately noticeable are the changes upfront – it’s sharper to look at and receives a new set of J-shaped LED DRLs. While the slimmer lights make it look wider and closer to the ground – it retains the overall dimensions and silhouette of the previous generation F-Type and no, we aren’t complaining. The F-Type has always been a beauty to look at, and these updates just make it better. Materials used on the inside feel more premium, and the instrumentation and the infotainment systems have been updated.

So if the dimensions haven’t changed, why is this being called the F-Type’s biggest update? Well, that’s because most of the changes lie under the hood. In addition to a stiffer chassis, the F-Type is now being offered with three engine powertrains. First up is the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that puts out 296bhp and 400Nm of torque in the F-Type 300. It takes 5.7 seconds (claimed) to sprint from 0-100kmph, and is with an eight-speed automatic that sends all the power to the rear wheels.
