Jaguar has launched its first all-electric performance SUV, the I-Pace, in India. The I-Pace is priced between Rs 1.06 crore and Rs 1.12 crore (ex-showroom, India) and is available in three different trim options – ‘S’ variant, ‘SE Variant’ and the ‘HSE’ variant.
Powering the I-Pace is a 90kW battery that sends power to two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, which produce 394bhp and 696Nm of torque combined. The I-PACE claims to have a 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200km/h. It has a claimed range of around 407 to 470 kms in a single charge and would take approximately 13 hours to charge the I-PACE batteries from empty to full using an 11kW home charger, and a 50kW charger could offer 270kms of range per hour.
In terms of tech provided, the I-Pace boasts plenty of standard tech such as LED headlights and tail-lights, a 12.3-inch Privi Pro touchscreen infotainment system, a fixed glass roof, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, ‘InControl’ connected-car tech and more. Also standard on all variants are the 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Customers opting for the top-trim HSE variant would also get additional features such as the adaptive ‘Matrix’ LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, 16-way heated and cooled driver and passenger seats with memory function, heads-up display, hands-free boot release, ‘Windsor leather sports seats and a 16-speaker Meridian sound system with an output of 825 watts.
A home charger cable along with a 7.4kW AC wall-mounted charger is offered to customers of the I-Pace. Installation of the wall charger will is done in collaboration with Tata Power Ltd. Customers can access Tata Power’s fast-expanding EZ Charge network of around 200 I-PACE compatible charging points on a use pay basis. Also, 22 retail outlets across 19 cities are now EV ready, with over 35 EV chargers installed and more underway. These chargers are a combination of 7.4 kW AC chargers and 25 kW DC (fast) chargers.

The only competition that the Jaguar I-Pace currently faces is from the Mercedes-Benz EQC, priced at Rs 1.04 crores (ex-showroom, India). This segment will soon see another competitor with the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback launching later in the year.
