India is heading towards an electric future. These days, SUVs are the most popular form of car. In India, we have Mercedes-Benz EQC, as the only fully-electric premium SUV. While Audi has some plans to bring its E-Tron SUV to India, Jaguar Land Rover has already started accepting the bookings for its all-new electric performance SUV Jaguar I-Pace, in India. And the Jaguar I-Pace really seems to have something, which no other competitor can even think of. However, we’ll speak about this “special thing” in the latter part.
What are the problems with an EV, you can think of?
Let’s start with all the problems, which come to our mind, the moment we see an electric vehicle. The three main concerns of any modern customer would ideally be- the battery, the range, and power. Well, the Jaguar I-Pace has the solution to all these. The SUV comes fitted with a state-of-the-art 90 kWh Lithium-ion battery, which is capable of lasting for more than 470km on a single charge.
Well, battery and range might be enough for most of your daily city commutes, and even some short inter-city travels. However, what about power and performance? The first thing which comes to our mind, when we imagine an electric vehicle, is a small match-box like car, which cannot go beyond 40kmph, to give a decent range. However, the Jaguar I-Pace is not like that. The SUV comes powered by a 90 kWh battery pack with two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, which together produce 394.5bhp of power and 696Nm of peak torque. With all this power, the vehicle accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 s
What About Charging?
Yes, now that’s an important question. Remember we mentioned that “special thing” of the Jaguar I-Pace. The SUV comes with a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery, that gets 8 years or 160 000 km warranty. Apart from this, I-PACE customers will benefit from complimentary 5 years service package, 5 years Jaguar Roadside Assistance, as well as a 7.4 kW AC wall, mounted charger. But if you are still not convinced, here is the special thing-
Jaguar Land Rover, unlike its rivals, offers a worry-free EV experience to its customers. And for this, Jaguar Land Rover has already tied-up with Tata Power to provide office and home charging solutions to customers of I-PACE. Further, Tata Power as part of its ‘EZ Charge’ EV Charging network, has installed 200+ charging points across the country. These are present at convenient locations like malls, restaurants, offices, residential complexes, and
along the highways. Jaguar customers will have access to this fast-expanding ‘EZ Charge’ EV Charging network of Tata Power.
Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India said, “We are extremely thrilled to commence our electric journey in the Indian market with the introduction of the Jaguar I-PACE. While focusing on the company’s vision of creating a sustainable future, we are committed to the introduction of electrified vehicles across the Jaguar and Land Rover portfolio.”
