Kia’s hotly-anticipated sub-four-meter SUV is ready to evolve into its production spec avatar on August 7th.
First showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, the upcoming Sonet will largely resemble the close-to production concept and will share a lot with its cousin – the Hyundai Venue. Compared to the Venue, the Sonet incorporates a traditional boxy SUV look however the sharp cuts and creases add to its modern appeal, along with Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille and the sleek LED headlights. At the back, the Sonet’s width is accentuated by large tail-lights linked by an LED light bar.
Kia is sure to offer several segment-first features including a clutch-less manual transmission unit, which was recently announced for the Hyundai Venue. Engine options will include a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit, a 1.2-litre NA petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel as well, mirroring what’s being offered with the Hyundai Venue, however, Kia could possibly include a few new transmission options.
Pricing would be the key to success for the Sonet in India, enabling the Korean manufacturer to have another hot-seller for the domestic markets after the Seltos. Stay tuned for more updates on Kia’s upcoming compact SUV.
