Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has announced its sales numbers for May 2021. Over the past month, Mahindra has managed an overall auto sales of 17,447 units. This number consists of both passenger vehicles as well as the commercial vehicles sold by Mahindra & Mahindra.

In the utility vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 7,748 vehicles in May 2021. The passenger vehicles segment (including UVs, cars and vans) sold 8,004 vehicles in May 2021. The automaker states that their export numbers for May 2021 stand at 1,935 cars.

According to Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., “We are seeing a strong growth momentum for our entire product portfolio. The Thar is clocking robust bookings, despite extended waiting periods. XUV300 has been a tremendous success and continues to see strong demand. Our power brands (Scorpio and Bolero) continue to do well. With the cases coming down and gradual opening up of markets, we foresee a strong demand rebound. We are working closely with our supplier partners to manage supply chain issues and meet the market demand.”

The current portfolio offered by Mahindra consists of the XUV300, Scorpio, Bolero, XUV500, KUV100 NXT, Marazzo, Alturas G4 and the Thar. The Thar is currently the hottest selling product in its line-up. However, customers have been told that the waiting period on the Thar is nearly for a whole year. Moreover, the automaker is yet to release the next generation XUV500 called the XUV700, which was earlier slated to launch in early 2021 but has been delayed for various reasons, the main being the Covid-19 pandemic.
