Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd launched the Bolero Neo SUV earlier today. The Bolero Neo is launched at an introductory price of Rs 8.48 Lakh for the N4 variant, the N8 variant is priced at Rs 9.84 lakh, while the N10 variant is priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, Mahindra has not introduced the price for the top-spec N10(O) variant yet. It will be available at Mahindra dealerships starting July 13, 2021.
Powering the Bolero Neo is a 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine also available in the Mahindra TUV 300. It is updated to comply with the BS6 norms and produces 100hp and 260Nm of torque. However, unlike in the TUV 300, the Bolero neo is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and an AMT automatic gearbox is not on offer. Also, a significant addition to the Bolero Neo is an automatic locking differential in the rear axle to improve control in low traction situations, which is only available in the N10(O) variant.
Regarding the difference between the TUV 300 and the Bolero Neo, there aren’t any significant changes apart from the revised headlamps with DRLs, a reworked front bumper, new fog lamps, and a new chrome slatted grille. Other differences include black stripes on the sides, and of course, Bolero branding all over.
Even on the interiors, the Bolero Neo remains largely unchanged from the TUV 300. It features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity, BlueSense App, rear windshield wiper with defogger, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, height-adjustable driver seat, and cruise control. Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with reverse assist, and ISOFIX child mounts.
Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said, “The Bolero brand has witnessed strong loyalty and ruled Indian roads for over two decades now. With this product we have combined the customers’ affinity towards brand Bolero with their modern outlook, persona and aspirations. The design, performance and engineering enhancements in the new Bolero Neo blend well with the authentic Bolero DNA, making it suitable for the bold and fearless Young Bharat. The addition of Bolero Neo to the Bolero SUV brand portfolio will help us retain Bolero amongst the top 10 selling SUV’s in the country.”
