If you believe that Mahindra’s assault to thwart its competition has toned down after the launch of the XUV700, you are dead wrong. The homegrown carmaker is soon going to unleash its forces in the electric segment as it has teased as many as three electric vehicles. So we can expect Mahindra to step into the electric game with not just one offering but a complete arsenal, giving its loyal customers the option to choose their own poison.
Mahindra has already announced that it is solely going to focus on SUVs so needless to say, the upcoming electric offerings from Mahindra’s stable are all going to be SUVs. Last year, a screenshot got leaked which revealed that Mahindra will launch its first electric vehicle by 2025, and the next one shall be out by 2026. However, we believe that the teased products are more likely to be conceptualised versions, instead of full-fledged production-spec vehicles.
The concept vehicles are designed by Mahindra Advanced Design Europe. It is also being reported that the ‘Born EV’ concept vehicles will make use of a new, dedicated electric car platform. It is worth noting here that the eVerito and the upcoming XUV300 electric are based on their ICE-powered counterparts.
That being said, Veejay Nakra, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive division has confirmed that Mahindra is going to launch the all-electric XUV300 by April 2023! Here’s what the man had to say “The next immediate launch on the EV front on the SUVs would be the XUV300. We are currently looking at launching that product in Quarter-3 or Quarter-4 of FY23”.
