Maruti Suzuki’s workhorse van, Eeco, celebrates completion of 10 years in India. Maruti Suzuki states that it has crossed seven lakh unit cumulative sales and enjoys 90 percent market share in its segment. The company feels that the Eeco has earned the distinction of being ideal for family travel, while simultaneously being a dependable business vehicle. Let’s not forget that it comes in 12 variants, which include five-seater, seven-seater, cargo, and ambulance versions, amongst others. Prices for the Eeco start at Rs 3.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Eeco, which was based on the Versa, comes equipped with BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine that offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.11kmpl (petrol) and produces 72bhp@6000rpm and 98Nm@3000rpm. The CNG variant offers a claimed fuel economy figure of 20.88 Kmpkg and produces 61bhp@6000rpm 85Nm@3000rpm. As far as safety features go, the Eeco comes with a driver-side airbag, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder, and high-speed alert system
Maruti Suzuki also gave us some interesting figures surrounding the Eeco. For example, this ubiquitous van enjoys high brand awareness with over 84 percent Eeco customers being pre-determined buyers. It is also one of the top 10 highest-selling vehicles in the country for the year 2019-20. Also, 66 percent of Eeco owners feel “Eeco is comfortable for long drives” in comparison to other vans.
