Mercedes-Benz has launched two new models in India today. One of which is the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe – a two-door, performance-based version of the C-Class sedan. It is powered by a 4.0-litre, V8 Biturbo engine which produces a whopping 470bhp of power and 650Nm of torque! This AMG-tuned motor is mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The C 63 Coupe is capable of doing the 0-100kmph sprint in just four seconds (claimed). Top speed is limited to 250km/hr. Currently, Mercedes-Benz also sells the C 43 Coupe in India, which comes equipped with a 3.0-litre, V6 Biturbo engine. Pricing for the C 63 Coupe stands at Rs 1.33 crore (ex-showroom, India, except Kerala).
Speaking on the occasion, Martin Schwenk, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, commented, “With a strong market presence, supported by a wide portfolio of performance cars and a dedicated retail network, our AMG strategy has helped us in cementing our market leadership in the luxury performance car segment. Encouraging customer demand for our top-end AMGs emerging both from metro and non-metro markets validates our efforts to introduce new products in the performance segment. Our decision of introducing these two products is aimed at expanding the top-of-the pyramid performance segment, which has witnessed encouraging demand in 2019. We are confident that the AMG C 63 Coupé and the AMG GT R will continue to create momentum and further expand the segment.”
On the design front, the C 63 Coupe gets twin exhausts, carbon fibre rear spoiler, split LED tail lamps and a sportier design overall. Other than that, the coupe boasts of ventilated seats with memory function, premium Nappa leather upholstery, Active Park Assist and a Burmester music system. To ease things up in the handling department, the C 63 Coupe has been equipped with an AMG Rear Axle Locking Differential. Other creature comforts include a two-zone A, 12.3-inch digital cockpit and AMG-styled design cues in and around the exterior of the C 63 Coupe.
