The Mercedes-AMG GT R is here! The German automaker announced the arrival of the GT-R in an online press conference, which also featured the launch of the C 63 Coupe. For most who may not know, the GT R is only the second vehicle to be entirely developed by Mercedes-AMG after the SLS. Under the hood, the GT R gets a 4.0-litre, V8 Biturbo motor which churns out 577bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. It can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.6 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 318km/hr. This cracker of an engine comes mated to a seven-speed AMG Speedshift DCT gearbox.
As far as the design is concerned, the GT R gets all-new LED headlamps on either side of the AMG A-type grille. There’s also the supremely long bonnet with ‘power domes’ and flared wheel arches. The body-coloured rear wing, carbon fibre roof, air curtains on the rear bumper and black side skirts further, central exhaust system finished in titanium add to the appeal of the GT-R. As this is a Mercedes-Benz, it comes filled to brim with tech. Take for the example the AMG Ride Control suspension, nine-step traction control and high-performance AMG Ceramic composite brake system.
Mercedes-Benz has stopped there. The GT R interiors are just as special, with contrast colour topstitching, 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the V8-inspired centre console area. Since this is one of the best cars to come out of the Germans automaker’s factory, it is priced accordingly too – Rs 2.48 crore (ex-showroom, India, except Kerala).
