The Factory to dealer dispatches has registered 148 per cent growth over June and sits on
255,674 units which should bring a wide smile to all of us. Yes, there was a huge pent-up demand over the lockdown month of May, but this is undoubtedly a good sign. The month of June was busiest ever since the 1st wave had descended upon us with high key ticket launches like Hyundai Alcazar, Skoda Kushaq on one side through the Jaguar I-Pace Audi e-Tron in the EV Space to the S class, GLS Maybach and Ferrari Roma on the top of the power band.

The Luxury EV space has finally got some momentum, and the Mercedes EQC has some serious competition. It had all the roads to itself for a while now, and having more in a “range anxious” space like Luxury EV, competition will only broaden the road. The biggest launch of the season is arguably the Hyundai Alcazar which takes on the Tata Safari and the MG Hector in the 6/7 seater category, while the Skoda Kushaq is looking hard at the
CRETA / SELTOS segment. Next month will be more interesting with two colonial cousins with a Korean badge Creta and Seltos will be fighting the german engineered Kushaq and Taigun.

They will also be at war against their sibling and with each other, giving consumers more options in their buffet. The fear of the third wave of lockdown is forcing manufacturers to jump-start and stack up launches after another, which is understandable. As long as it keeps the momentum going and keeps the scoreboard ticking, no one is complaining. There is a saying if Automobile Industry in India sneezes, the economy catches a cold. Well, it’s not a saying, but it could be rightly said with 54% of manufacturing GDP
of our economy depends on it.
