Set to launch later this month, Honda has opened bookings for the refreshed Jazz for an amount of Rs 21,000 through all of its authorized dealerships across India. Customers can also book the Jazz online through the Honda website for a small sum of Rs 5,000 using the ‘Honda from home’ feature.
The new Jazz will be available exclusively with the 1.2-litre BS6-compliant i-VTEC petrol engine that also does duties in the WR-V. The absence of a diesel option is the result of depleting demand, as majority of the customers preferred having the Jazz with a petrol engine. That said, the CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifters is very much there. Not a surprise, as last year it accounted for a whopping 70 percent of the Jazz sales.
In terms of changes, it would require a keen eye to point out the updates as most of them are rather subtle. However, you can’t miss the LED treatment upfront with LED headlamps and LED fog lamps. Then there is the updated gloss-black grille and minor revisions to the front and rear bumpers.
Interiors too are vastly similar to the older model, but now get a segment-exclusive electric sunroof. That is one feature the Jazz customers will appreciate given our obsession with having a sunroof. Other positives like the humongous space on the inside and comfortable seats have been carried over.
Mr Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President and Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. was quoted as saying, “We are excited to open the bookings for the new Jazz which is slated for launch later this month. The new Jazz with its stylish sporty new look, outstanding interior package and segment-unique One Touch Electric Sunroof will appeal to the customers who are looking for the absolute best in the segment.”
With rivals like the popular Maruti Baleno, the stylish Tata Altroz and the all-new Hyundai i20 that is on its way, the Jazz has quite the competition ahead.
