Soon after the unveiling of the all-new Taigun and Tiguan facelift, VW released a teaser of the Tiguans seven-seater cousin – the Allspace. Replacing the outgoing model, the new Allspace will rest on similar changes and modifications of the new Tiguan in terms of design, interior, and powertrain. Globally, the Allspace is one of VWs most successful SUVs, but in India, it has had its share of hurdles, mainly due to the high sticker price.
In terms of design, like mentioned above, it will borrow cues from the Tiguan we saw not too long ago. That means sharper lines, more definitive creases, and a more upmarket feel. The teaser images showcase the revised LED taillamps along with bold lines on the body.
The interior will also be refreshed and will get all the latest tech and features. You can expect equipment like the new infotainment system featuring the new MIB3 along with new control and assist system that offers a lot more functionality. Powering the Allspace will be the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Sadly, it is unlikely that we will get the LWB version of the SUV, as that one is for the Chinese market only. The new Allspace like its predecessor is likely to be introduced via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route and that means prices will still be on the steep side. We expect them to range between Rs 31-34 lakh. That said, there is no confirmed date as to when we can expect the Tiguan Allspace in India, but when it does, the Allspace will be taking on the Ford Endeavour as its closest competitor since there is no confirmation on the new Skoda Kodiaq. However, with the Tiguan expected to be launched in the coming months, the Allspace is likely to follow soon enough.
