The Audi e-tron has created quite a buzz since we drove it for the first time. It has the appeal, space, tech and all the right EV traits. We were mighty impressed, but we also expected the pricing around the Rs 1 crore mark. How close are we to the actual pricing will be confirmed on the 22 of July when the e-tron will be launched, but there is a lot more than Audi will be bringing along.

Audi e-tron launchStarting off, there is the one we drove. The e-tron 55, which will be powered by a 402bhp and 664Nm 95kWh battery with a claimed range of 359-484km. Then there is also a lesser-powered version dubbed the e-tron 50 that is powered by a 71kWh battery and is good for 308bhp and a range of 264-379km. The e-tron 50 is sure to be priced aggressively and just might be the pick of the lot for many. It will get all the tech and luxury, and that marginal drop in the range is something owners wouldn’t mind, especially those who will buy the e-tron exclusively for the city.

Audi e-tron launchNow, the design of the e-tron is subtle and svelte, but if you want something that stands out and has a bit more style, then Audi will also be launching the e-tron Sportback. The sloping roofline is what Audi banks on, and to be fair, we think customers won’t mind spending a little extra for some exclusivity. The Sportback will be available in 55 guise, which means similar power figures as the e-tron 55. It also means the same tech underneath with e-quattro, adaptive air suspension, 4-zone climate control, and Matrix LED headlamps, amongst much more.

Audi e-tron launchCustomers can book the e-tron of their choice through the Audi India website or their nearest Audi India dealership. Mr Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, said, “We believe in India’s long-term goal of electric mobility and at the same time in giving an array of choice to our customers. It is with this belief that we have decided to launch the entire range of the Audi e-tron SUV in the form of two variants, along with the Audi e-tron Sportback 55. Between this trio, we aim to quickly get India’s most discerning first movers and early adopters plugged into our premium electric SUVs and subsequently usher in the new era of electric luxury mobility in the country.”
