Skoda’s most powerful car in India has been sold out for 2020. The Octavia RS 245, which was first showcased for the domestic market at the Auto Expo 2020, came to India as a CBU and was limited to only 200 examples. Bookings were opened on the 1st of March, and Skoda has recently confirmed all 200 units have already been sold. As a matter of fact, the initial 100 were sold on the first day itself!
The RS 245 comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI engine that develops 245bhp and 370Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG that puts out all those ponies to the front wheels via a limited-slip differential. It’s capable of doing a 0-100 kmph run in 6.6 seconds, while attaining a top speed of 250 kmph. To compliment that speed are those 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, red brake calipers, twin exhaust pipes, and a glossy black spoiler. The interior gets an all-black treatment with vRS badging and red stitching. The highlight has to be the Alcantara leather seats- giving it a very opulent feel.
The RS 245 was launched at Rs 35,99,599 (ex-showroom, India)- and while that makes it around 12 lakh dearer than the top-end Octavia L&K, the RS 245 packs in some serious performance and tech that puts it in a different league of altogether. No wonder why the RS has such a cult following of its own.
Well, if you missed the Octavia RS, you will have to wait until next year. Skoda plans on launching the RS alongside the next generation Octavia. There is good news though- in his recent interactions, Zac Hollis, Director- Sales, Service and Marketing at Skoda Auto India, has mentioned that the brand will aim at bringing the RS to our shores at the start of their life-cycle and not at the end, like always. Would it be a limited edition run? No confirmation yet, but we certainly think it would!
