Ola announced that its electric scooter received 1 lakh bookings within the first 24 hours of its launch. Ola electric had opened the reservations for their upcoming electric scooter on the 15th of July. Potential customers can book this electric scooter via the website olaelectric.com by paying a booking amount of Rs 499. Furthermore, Ola state that their upcoming scooter had bagged an unofficial record of being the most pre-booked scooter in the world since its launch.

At present, technical details of the electric scooter aren’t available, but Ola electric will reveal the features and, most importantly it price in the coming days. However, we can mention that the Ola electric scooter will be made-in-India and manufactured at the company’s state-of-the-art Futurefactory, which is being built in Tamil Nadu. The first phase of the Ola Futurefactory is nearing completion. It will be operationalised soon, while the total capacity of 10 million vehicles per annum will be built by next year.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO, Ola, said, “I am thrilled by the tremendous response from customers across India for our first electric vehicle. The unprecedented demand is a clear indicator of shifting consumer preferences to EVs. This is a huge step forward in our mission to transition the world to sustainable mobility. I thank all the consumers who have booked the Ola Scooter and have joined the EV revolution. This is only the beginning!”

In terms of the competition this scooter faces, it faces intense competition from Ather’s 450 and 450x, the TVS iQube and the Bajaj Chetak electric. Apart from these, plenty of other brands produce rebranded electric scooters from China, but that isn’t direct competition to the upcoming Ola scooter.
