Renault India will expand its product range and segment presence with the launch of its upcoming sub-compact SUV, Renault Kiger, which will be built on the same platform as Triber and will be an international launch for Groupe Renault. Renault is also planning to introduce an all-new global engine with Renault Kiger.
To share a first glimpse into what customers can expect from Renault Kiger, Renault has unveiled the Renault Kiger show car, on which Renault’s new SUV is designed and developed. Renault Kiger’s show car is actually a result of the collaboration between the Corporate design teams in France and Renault India design. The body color of the Renault Kiger show car shows mysteriously changing blue and purple hues, depending on the angle and light, which gives it a impactful two-level lighting.
According to Renault, the mass-market version of the Kiger will have about 80 percent similarity to the show car in terms of design. Also, Renault is expected to launch an all-new turbocharged engine with Renault Kiger and promises to offer an exciting drive courtesy its high performance, modern and efficient engine options. Apart from this, the Renault Kiger will also be a completely “Make in India” product.
On the exterior front, the Renault Kiger comes with a sharp upper part, that is set against the muscular lower part. All this, along with a semi-floating roof, a roof-integrated spoiler flag drop, a sloping rear window, and its tapered mirrors, designed like airplane wings, the Renault Kiger show car displays a very striking look.
Renault calls the color of the Kiger as “California Dream” and “Aurora Borealis”, the Renault Kiger show car body color shows mysteriously changing blue and purple hues, depending on the angle and light. The Renault Kiger gets a sporty look with the double central exhaust system, the double extractor, the hexagonal structure, 19-inch wheels with heavily grooved tyres, roof rails, front and rear skid plates, and 210mm ground clearance. On the front end, the Kiger gets two-level of full LED headlights and a neon indicator light. At the back, the rear LED lighting signature makes the car recognizable with double “C” shaped tail lamps.
The Renault Kiger will be borrowing a lot from other cars, like Triber and the upcoming Nissan Magnite. According to some reports, the Renault Kiger will be equipped with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, borrowed from the Nissan Magnite, the same engine is long due to make a mark on the Renault Triber as well.
