Tata Motors has announced the launch of a new brand called ‘XPRES’ catered exclusively for its fleet customers. Under the XPRES brand, Tata Motors will include offerings that cater to fleet owners’ specific needs: safety, passenger comfort, and low cost of ownership. The first vehicle under this brand to be launched shortly is the XPRES-T EV electric sedan.
The XPRES-T EV is offered with two range options – 213kms and 165kms (ARAI claimed range). The electric sedan also packs two high-density battery packs of 21.5kW and 16.5kW, which Tata claims can be charged from 0 to 80% in 90mins and 110mins respectively, using a fast charger. Additionally, the XPRES-T comes with plenty of features as standard, such as dual airbags, automatic climate control, ABS with EBD across variants. Furthermore, an all-black interior theme and blue accents on the interiors and exteriors help it differentiate from other Tata models.
Announcing the launch of the XPRES brand, Mr Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “We are delighted to launch the Xpres brand, which will introduce smarter, future-ready mobility solutions to cater for the special needs of all fleet customers – government, corporates, and mobility services. Electric Vehicles deliver very low cost of ownership, with minimal maintenance, at the same time offer a very comfortable and pleasant drive. This makes them an ideal choice for intra-city mobility services.”
With the launch of the XPRES brand, Tata Motors is further committing to support the Indian government’s emphasis on green mobility. At present, over 1700 electric sedans are plying in the fleet segment, and Tata is working on increasing those numbers with the launch of the XPRES-T sedan. In addition, the brand is also working alongside Tata Power to offer a comprehensive and captive charging solution for the fleet operators buying the XPRES-T.
