The facelifted third-generation of beautifully crafted Mercedes-Benz CLA shows off an even sportier look with a new front apron, two louvres at the sides, and a front splitter in silver chrome. The bigger news comes in the engine department, with the introduction of a new mild-hybrid diesel. The CLS 300d links a 2.0-litre diesel engine to a 15kW electric boost for a 261bhp peak, yielding 0-100kmph time of 6.4secs. All told, there are three petrols and three diesels, a mixture of four- and six-cylinder powerplants. The sporty top model- the CLS 53 4MATIC+, comes with a unique front-face that’s differentiated by a AMG bumper in A-wing form with black flics and visible air curtains, as well as the AMG signature grille with vertical bars. While the surrounds of the windscreen frames are made of polished aluminium, the mirrors there are finished in high-gloss black or have a housing made of carbon fibre. The CLS 53 4MATIC+ combines a powerful 429bhp with an integrated starter-generator that briefly delivers an additional 16 kW of power and 250 Nm of torque, good for a 0-100 time of 4.5secs
