India is one of the largest two-wheeler manufacturer globally, contributing to around 2% of GDP revenues. According to the reports, two-wheeler production accounts for more than 80% of total automotive production in India, making it the home of major automobile manufacturers in the world.

2021 saw a slew of new motorcycles being launched in India. The trend of ADVs is rapidly growing along with electric vehicles in India. That said, the craze for superbikes haven’t taken the edge off. Demand for affordable mass-market bikes always remains high. Today, this article will cover the top 10 bikes we are looking extremely forward to in 2022.

1) Royal Enfield SG650

Royal Enfield finally took the wraps off the SG650 concept motorcycle in the EICMA motor show in Milan, Italy, in November 2021. It is a bobber-style cruiser motorcycle that is likely to underpin the same engine and powertrain from Interceptor 650 and Continental GT,  producing 47bhp at 7150rpm and a peak torque of 52Nm 5250rpm. The Royal Enfield has named this brand new concept motorcycle as Shotgun. It is expected to launch in India in late 2022 with a price tag of around Rs.3-3.5 lakh.

2) Suzuki Katana

Suzuki has a remarkable brand presence in India because of its super sports bike – the Hyabusa. Now, with the Katana, Suzuki wants to penetrate strong in the Indian market by offering its performance motorcycle. Katana is based on the GSX-1000F naked bike. The bike was also showcased in the EICMA motor show in Milan, Italy. The motorcycle gets a 1-litre, 4- cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces around 150 hp @10000 rpm and 108 Nm @9500 rpm, capable of going 0-100 kmph in 2.65 sec. The bike is expected to launch in India in mid-2022 with a price tag of around Rs.12lakh.

3) Benelli Leoncino 250

Benelli Leoncino 250 has already been launched in the global market and it is expected to hit our shores in 2022. The bike will come equipped with a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces around 25.4 bhp of maximum power at 9250 rpm and a peak torque of 21Nm at around 8000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Once launched, it will go up against Bajaj Dominar 250, KTM Duke 250 and Suzuki Gixxer 250. It is expected to be priced at around Rs.2.5lakh.

4) KTM 790 Adventure

The Austrian manufacturer KTM is synonymous with fun-to-ride motorcycles in India. The brand is an absolute favourite for the people who like power-packed performance, and with an adventure setup, it is catering to the large audience of adventure seeker riders in India. The 790 adventure will come equipped with a 799cc parallel-twin engine that chunks out around 95hp at 8000 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 6600 pm. Once launched, it will go up against Triumph Tiger 800, Suzuki V-Strom and BMW F750GS. It is expected to be priced at around Rs.12lakhs.

5) Aprilia Tuareg 660

Aprilia Tuareg is a 660cc adventure bike based on the same platform as Tuono and RS. Tuareg produces around 79 hp of power and 80 Nm of torque from its parallel –twin motor, tunned down to have about 20 hp of less power and 3Nm of torque compared to its 660 twins for better use of power-band for adventure purposes. It will come as a CBU unit and is expected to launch in late 2022 in India. It is expected to be priced at around Rs.11lakhs.

6) Yezdi Roadking

Yezdi is planning to make its comeback in the Indian two-wheeler market by launching ADV bike as Roadking. Yezdi was seen testing its motorcycle on Indian roads, and you must have got its glimpse on social media. Well, wait for not too long as this iconic brand will unveil its bike in January 2022. Yezdi Roadking is an adventure motorcycle that is expected to get a 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing around 30 bhp of power and 33 Nm of torque. It is expected to be priced at around Rs.1.80lakhs.

7)Hero Xtreme 200 4V

We recently witnessed an update of the 4V setup in Xpulse 200, and we suspect that Hero’s Xtreme200S will soon be updated with a four-valve configuration in 2022. With an updated 4V setup, the power figure would be enhanced to around 20hp from 18hp. The bike will be more tractable and easy-revving than its outgoing 2V setup with this update. The launch is expected to be in early 2022, with an expected price range of Rs.1.40-1.50lakhs.

8) Emflux One

Emflux Motors is a homegrown startup based out in Bengaluru. They have showcased its electric bike at the 2018 Auto Expo and are currently testing its upcoming motorcycle. Emflux One gets a 9.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack that produces around 75Nm of torque and about 70 hp of power, capable of going 0-100km/h in just 3 sec. The company claims a top speed of 200kmph and 200km of range. It is expected to be launched at a price tag of around Rs. 4-5lakhs in mid-2022.  

9) Revolt RV1

Micromax co-founder Mr. Rahul Sharma founded the Revolt company and launched two bikes in the Indian market as- RV300 AND RV400. The company has already revealed that it will launch an entry-level motorcycle to replace RV 300. There has not been any update on the battery power and range of its upcoming RV1. With a price tag of around  Rs.1lakh, it is expected to be launched in early 2022.

10) Ultraviolette F77

Ultramotive automotive is another famous homegrown electric two-wheeler brand whose Ultraviolette F77 is highly anticipated by all automotive enthusiasts. It will be India’s high-performance electric motorcycle. It was first unveiled in 2019, and deliveries were expected to be made in 2020. The performance-packed motorcycle gets 4.2 kWh lithium ion battery pack that produces around 33.5 hp at 2250 rpm with maximum speed of 147 km/h, capable of going 0-60 km/h in 2.9 seconds only. The bike gets a capable range of around 140 km. It is expected to launch in India with the price tag of around Rs. 3lakhs.
